‘When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.’
At Whitemoor we view the curriculum as a set of ingredients. What matters most is how we put the ingredients together to create powerful learning experiences that relate to the context and needs of our children.
With this is mind we have developed an engaging, rich and challenging curriculum; building on the best from the past, but orientated towards the future.
We operate a curriculum for the Foundation Subjects that develops knowledge and understanding, alongside skills and processes; recognising all of these elements are important in creating effective learners (see model below).
For more information about our approach, see the policy section of the school website.
1. The Whitemoor creative learning journey develops the ‘whole child’. We nurture each child’s academic abilities alongside their creativity, physical abilities, emotional well-being and spiritual beliefs.
2. We enable each child to identify their own talents and passions, helping them become confident, self-aware individuals.
3. This process harnesses the skills of the pupils, parents, staff and wider community, making learning real and relevant for the children and providing the very best opportunities for them, now and in their futures.
‘Education is not only a preparation for what may come later; it is also about helping people engage with the present. What we become as our lives evolve depends on the quality of our experiences here and now.’
